Rania Attieh, from Lebanon, and Daniel Garcia, from Texas, are Independent Spirit award-winning filmmakers that have co-written and co-directed many films that have received critical acclaim and screened in major festivals. They are Guggenheim and Rockefeller fellows in film. Their last film H. (2015) was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award, and appeared at Venice Film Festival, Sundance and Berlinale. Initials S.G. (2019), their fourth feature film collaboration, just premiered at Tribeca Film Festival in the U.S. Narrative Competition, where Rania received the “Nora Ephron Award” for excellence in storytelling by a female writer or director embodying the spirit and boldness of the late filmmaker.
