Melody Cooper’s other TV work includes the 22nd season of NBCUniversal’s Law & Order: SVU and The Insiders, a new series headed by Greg Grunberg. She is currently a fellow in the Sundance Episodic Lab, developing a genre pilot in the Idea Lab. A 2019 HBO Access Writing Fellow, Melody was awarded the 2018 Grand Jury Prize at the Urbanworld Film Festival for her feature script Northern Cross. Melody won the Tangerine Entertainment Fellowship and was also selected for AMC Shudder Lab with her supernatural feature script The Sound of Darkness.  Also an award-winning playwright, Melody received a Ford Foundation grant to travel to Rwanda to develop her play Sweet Mercy, which was later developed by NY Stage and Film and starred Danai Gurira. Melody also currently writes the sci-fi comic book OMNI about a Black female doctor with super intelligence, published by Mark Waid at Humanoids. She is developing an original horror feature to direct in Canada in 2021 for Fear Works, and has created a scripted horror podcast with her all-women led horror group NYX Horror Collective.
