Heidi Saman

"Killer Inside"

Heidi Saman is an Egyptian-American director, named one of Filmmaker Magazine’s 25 New Faces to Watch in 2014 after her short The Maid (Il Shaghala) premiered in competition at the Cannes Film Festival. Her first feature film, Namour, premiered at the 2016 Los Angeles Film Festival where it won a Jury Award. Shortly thereafter it was acquired by Ava DuVernay’s ARRAY for distribution. She has also directed an episode of the DuVerney-produced Queen Sugar. Heidi was a 2016-2018 Pew Fellow in the Arts and she is developing her second feature film with the Sundance Institute’s Film Two Initiative. Heidi has been a producer for NPR’s Fresh Air with Terry Gross for the last nine years.
